The Number Devil: An Unsolicited Review

by Andrew Rich, a young reader

I absolutely love the book, The Number Devil : A Mathematical Adventure by Hans Magnus Enzensberger, Rotraut Susanne Berner (Illustrator), Michael Henry Heim (Translator). I'm learning so much from it. It starts out easy, but then it's really big and new and hard!!!

This guy, Robert, usually has bad dreams, just about all the time. Like, he slides down this slide and it gets faster and faster and faster and he can't stop, and if he cries out "Help!" or "Stop!" nothing happens. And then he wakes up, drenched in sweat.

But then comes the Number Devil. With the Number Devil, you aren't supposed to be scared in dreams, you're supposed to learn. And then everything was different. That's a good bit what it's like.

So, to sum up what this letter is really saying, "Thank you for this book." And now I'm really saying thank you.

Thank you!!!

Happily,

Andrew Rich
